Max Manus co-directors Espen Sanberg and Joachim Rønning reteam for this sweeping adventure detailing Thor Heyerdahl's daring attempt to prove that early settlers from South America once populated Polynesia by sailing across the Pacific on a simple balsa wood raft. Rejected by every publisher he approaches to print his unusual thesis, Heyerdahl (Pål Sverre Hagen) eventually decides that the only way to prove it is to make the journey himself as the entire world watches.

The Iceman

Michael Shannon stars as notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski in this biopic from director Ariel Vromen (Rx, Danika). To his loving wife Deborah (Winona Ryder) and their growing family, Kuklinski was a caring father. But he was also a man with a dark secret and an unusual talent for covering his tracks. For nearly three decades starting in the 1950s, the suburban family man worked as one of the Gambino crime family's chief executioners, earning the nickname "Iceman" for his use of freezers in obscuring the forensic details of his victim's deaths. By constantly varying his methods, Kuklinski made it virtually impossible for investigators to assemble an accurate profile of the killer credited with taking over 100 lives. A protégé of seasoned assassin Robert "Mister Softee" Pronge (Chris Evans), the elusive contract killer struggles to reconcile his relationship with his sociopathic brother Joseph (Stephen Dorff) while nurturing a close friendship with his Gambino contact Roy DeMeo (Ray Liotta). Then, in 1986, an arrest brings Kuklinski's violent career to a sudden end.

MIDNIGHTS @ THE DEL MAR PRESENTS

Space Jam

Warner Bros. attempted to revitalize its animation division with this family adventure that blended live action and animation in the style of Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), reportedly coming in with a price tag of $100 million. Basketball legend Michael Jordan stars as himself, a retired sports hero trying his hand at baseball and failing miserably. Meanwhile, the Looney Tunes gang, led by Bugs Bunny, are kidnapped by aliens called the Nerdlucks. It seems that the Nerdlucks' theme park, Moron Mountain (a barely-veiled dig at Disney) is failing to attract customers. The space invaders are convinced that the appearance of Bugs and his pals Porky Pig and Speedy Gonzalez will beef up business. Bugs makes his captors a deal -- they'll play a game of basketball for their freedom. When the Nerdlucks stack the deck by pilfering the talent of NBA superstars Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing, the Warner Bros. heroes enlist the aid of Jordan, who returns to the court to help the classic characters. While he prepares to play, Jordan is aided by fellow celebrity Bill Murray. Director Joe Pytka previously created many of the television commercials that featured Jordan as a paid endorser.

Love Is All You Need

Returning from her final, successful chemotherapy treatment, Ida (Trine Dyrholm) arrives home only to find her boorish husband Leif in a compromising position with a ditzy co-worker. Stricken, she takes off to Sorrento alone to attend the wedding of her daughter in a beautiful Italian villa, where the lemon groves and cypress trees form the perfect backdrop for a young couple who appear to be blissfully in love. Unexpectedly, Leif arrives with his new bimbo paramour in tow, leading Ida to give her husband a piece of her mind — and a face full of champagne. This display does little to impress Patrick's no-nonsense father Philip (Pierce Brosnan), a dashing but brooding widower who seems less than pleased with his life, his son, and his soon-to-be in-laws. When the young couple's future happiness is suddenly jeopardized, Ida and Philip are brought together to try to set things right — and find that life might have a second chance in store for them as well.

When a nurse at the hospital purposefully switches the children, their intertwining fates aer forever sealed. Years later, Saleem discovers that he and the rest of the children born on that historical night harbor telepathic powers that permit them to communicate with one another on a psychic level. The Great Gatsby

An aspiring writer falls under the spell of an aloof millionaire with designs for the young scribe's unhappily married cousin in director Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's celebrated novel. It's the spring of 1922, and wide-eyed Midwesterner Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) has just moved to New York City in pursuit of the American Dream. Settling into a home next door to wealthy Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), Carraway grows increasingly fascinated by the elaborate parties held at his new neighbor's estate. Meanwhile, across the bay, Carraway's cousin Daisy (Carey Mulligan) flounders in her marriage to philandering aristocrat Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). Inspired by the debauchery on display at Gatsby's wild parties and the lives of the wealthy elite, Carraway begins putting pen to paper as it gradually becomes clear that his cousin and the millionaire share a complicated romantic past that remains unresolved. Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, and Elizabeth Debicki co-star.

Fast & Furious 6

Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) summons Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew to London in order to take on a team of mercenary drivers who have caused havoc across a dozen countries in this pedal-to-the-metal installment of the rubber-burning action franchise. Having just earned a tidy $100 million for taking down a ruthless criminal kingpin, Dom and Brian (Paul Walker) have decided to lie low for a while. Fugitives from the law, they're constantly looking over their shoulders, no matter where they travel. Meanwhile, the malevolent leader of an elusive criminal outfit (Luke Evans) has incurred the wrath of Agent Hobbs, who has decided that the only way to shut them down is to beat them on their own turf. Realizing that Dom knows the only drivers in the world with the skills to get the job done, Agent Hobbs offers them all full pardons if they will come to London, and get back behind the wheel. The closer the renegade drivers get to the organization, however, the more apparent it becomes that Dom's former lover Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) is not only still alive, but a key figure among their ranks. Now, with their freedom finally within reach, Dom and the team reassemble for their most dangerous mission to date.
